The Studio Museum in Harlem is now accepting applications for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence program, marking the inaugural residency in the Museum’s new building. This esteemed program offers emerging artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent the opportunity to develop their practice in one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the world.
From March 15 to October 15, 2026, three selected artists will receive studio space, professional development, and institutional support culminating in a public exhibition at the Museum. The residency is open to artists working in any medium, and applicants need not propose a specific project but should submit a portfolio of completed work.
To apply, candidates must submit a resume or CV, an artist statement, and five to ten images or videos of their work via SlideRoom. Letters of recommendation are optional. The application is free and open to artists locally, nationally, and internationally; however, international applicants must secure their own visas. The deadline for submissions is October 7, 2025.
For more information and to apply, visit the Studio Museum’s residency application page.
