MoAD Emerging Artists is an open call for Bay Area-based artists to submit proposals presenting a solo exhibition to be shown at MoAD. Via the Emerging Artists Program, \MoAD aims to foster artists – both emerging and mid-career – with the intention of amplifying the professional and artistic development opportunities available to chosen participants.
Each year, EAP receives dozens of proposals presenting innovative artworks to activate the Salon, a multipurpose space in the heart of the museum where we hold public programs, education workshops, and events. From these proposals, four final artists and/or collectives are chosen to exhibit. They are selected by a team of jurors that includes MoAD staff and arts professionals of varying backgrounds in the Bay Area.
Since the initiation of the program three years ago, MoAD is proud to have provided 10 California artists the opportunities, with institutional support, to generate and exhibit works reflecting the cultural and artistic richness of the African Diaspora.
Artists interested in applying to be featured in our Emerging Artists program should attend this informational meeting.
We will hold two information sessions to review the application process, tour the gallery and answer any questions applicants may have. These sessions will be held on May 30 and June 19 at 6pm in the MoAD Salon.
