The Weary Blues, 1926

On January 1, 2022, copyrighted works from entered the US public domain where they are free for all to copy, share, and build upon. Langston Hughes’ The Weary Blues, is now available in this year’s domain. Written in 1925, “The Weary Blues” was first published in the Urban League magazine, Opportunity. It was awarded the magazine’s prize for best poem of the year. The poem was included in Hughes’s first book, a collection of poems, also entitled The Weary Blues.
