This year once again had its highs and lows in all things centered around African American culture! ART | library deco has been awarded the Excellence in Digital Libraries Award at the 2025 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries for its significant contributions to the digital library sector and its commitment to African American culture. Founded by Dr. kYmberly Keeton, it promotes Black artistic expression through various initiatives and resources.

The Chief Library Curator convened a group of 35 archivists to discuss the future of archival research, highlighting African American Archives Theory. This discussion encouraged deep dialogue on evolving practices. Additionally, an editorial piece praised Chicago’s architectural beauty, emphasizing its rich history and design reflected in the city’s skyline.
